Psalm 127: 3
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139: 13-16
Let us pray that all mankind will acknowledge that God has made us, we have not made ourselves! Father in heaven, we thank You that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made”! That Your eyes were on us before we were formed and that You cared enough to plan our days before they began. We thank You that you are bigger and greater than we can imagine. Thank you that Your love is immeasurable to towards. We are grateful and honor Your name.
2. Prayer for Those in Authority to Protect Life
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
Lord you have placed our leaders in their positions to serve Your purposes. May we select leaders who honor You and honor life. Raise up new leaders who value life from conception to natural death. Help our current leaders to know the truth about the value of every life and that our beginning and end are in Your hands. We ask that You turn the hearts of our leaders so that they will protect life, that they will stay the hand of murder that makes blood run in our state and cities; that they will be Your servants. Give them Your wisdom, understanding and love to discern rightly, to protect life – the unborn, the sinful, the ill, the elderly, etc. We bring before You Governor Northam, Senators Kaine and Warner, state Senator Hashmi, and delegates Tran and Adams – make Yourself and Your ways known to them!
3. Prayer for Mothers and Fathers to Value Life
“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.” Psalm 127: 3
Let us pray that fathers and mothers will see it as an honor to be able to procreate, to be a co-creator with God to people the earth! May the privilege of bringing children up be revered and a source of praise and thanksgiving. That parents will know that the Lord is blessing them with the presence of children and trusting them with treasures. Let us pray for the unmarried who are expecting and who have children: strengthen these parents to fulfill their duties towards their children; show them the way to go to provide for and to be present to their children; let them take this responsibility seriously and embrace the sacrifices that are involved. May they know that You are with them to see them through!
4. Prayer for Richmond’s A Capital Women’s Health Clinic
“Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14
Let us pray for Richmond’s A Capital Women’s Health Clinic on 1511 Starling Drive across from Regency Mall. We repent for the deaths that have occurred at this clinic and we know the blood cries out to You! We ask Your forgiveness and to help us prevent any other lives from being taken at this location and around our state. We ask the Lord to send His Spirit of truth to convict abortionist David Reed Peters of the value of life; that he will become an advocate for life. We speak LIFE over this clinic, in Jesus’ name.
5. Prayer for Sexual Purity
“But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.” 1 Corinthians 7:2
We repent for the proliferation of sexual immorality in our families, churches and communities and nation. We repent for not living sexually pure lives and for leading others into sin. We ask Your forgiveness and for Your help to teach Your ways. We ask for boldness and for platforms for which to teach Your ways. We ask You to show us how to love the sinner and not the sin, to offer hope to those caught in sexual perversions and addictions. We thank You that nothing is impossible for You!
6. Prayer for an End to Capital Punishment
“If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent.” Matthew 12:7
We repent for having spilled innocent blood and for wanting to kill others for their trespasses. We repent for not having loved well such that people are driven to commit heinous crimes due to psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual abuse that has been heaped on them by us/society. We ask Your forgiveness and for Your light to shine in our justice system to truly follow Your desire for Mercy!
