“So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him;
male and female He created them.”
Genesis 1: 26-27

Genesis 1: 26-27
1. Prayer for God’s People to have God’s Perspective on Life
“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” Psalm 8: 3-4
Our Father in heaven created life, all forms, but man was made in His image. All creation is made to work together and to prosper! Let us repent for the ways we have not valued the life of another or considered them worthless, “wrote them off/out of our lives” –especially the unborn, those with physical defects congenital or acquired, the difficult people, the handicapped, the elderly, the mentally ill. We ask for Your forgiveness and a heart to be able to receive Your perspective on the way You value and have purpose for all life.
2. Prayer for Those in Authority to Protect Life
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
Lord you have placed our leaders in their positions to serve Your purposes. May we select leaders who honor You and honor life. Raise up new leaders who value life from conception to natural death. Help our current leaders to know the truth about the value of every life and that our beginning and end are in Your hands. WE=e ask that You turn the hearts of our leaders so that they will protect life, that they will stay the hand of murder that makes blood run in our state and cities; that they will be Your servants. Give them Your wisdom, understanding and love to discern rightly, to protect life – the unborn, the sinful, the ill, the elderly, etc. We bring before you Governor Northam, Senators Kaine and Warner, state Senator Hashmi, and delegates Tran and Adams
3. Prayer for Mothers and Fathers to Value Life
“He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction." Malachi 4:6
There are many idols in our land that turn the hearts of the fathers and mothers from their children. We repent of killing our children to keep our status of living, to continue our education and to save our money. We repent of not being responsible for our sexuality. We repent of not respecting and honoring each other; for not teaching and modeling appropriate relationships that honor and respect one another. We ask Your forgiveness and for Your help to reestablish honor in being a mothers and fathers. We ask for your help to maintain sexual purity in our relationships. We thank You for bringing us “life and life to the fullest”.
4. Prayer for Richmond’s Planned Parenthood
“Did not he who made me in the womb make them? Did not the same one form us both within our mothers? “Job 31:15
Let us pray for Richmond’s Planned Parenthood location on 201 N. Hamilton Street and The Virginia League of Planned Parenthood’s CEO, Paulette McElwain, that the Lord’s Spirit will renew their hearts and minds to value life at conception and beyond. We repent for the deaths that have occurred at this clinic and we know the blood cries out to You! We ask Your forgiveness and to help us prevent any other lives from being taken at this location and around our state. We thank You Father that You hear us and will do what we have asked.
5. Prayer for Sexual Purity to be Taught, Valued and Practiced
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God;” 1 Thess. 4:3-5
We thank you Father that you have given us the bonds of marriage through which our sexuality is to be expressed. We repent for having disobeyed Your will in this: we repent of fornication, adultery, use of pornography and trashy novels, sexual fantasy and for not speaking out against these things. We ask You to help us to guard our minds and hearts by turning away and not allowing our thoughts and actions lead us into idolatry of sex. Please raise up leaders in our churches who will be bold and outspoken on this issue, call us to repentance and teach us Your ways.
6. Prayer for an End to Capital Punishment
"Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." John 8:7
We know that we cannot judge rightly and people have been wrongly put to death for crimes they did not commit. Our only just judge is God. Jesus taught us to forgive and to have mercy as He did with the adulterous woman. We are all influenced by our situations in life and we make many wrong choices. God sees to it that we are forgiven and are given life until He calls us home. We repent for the state of Virginia using execution as a punishment. We ask You Lord to move us and Your people to end this practice and establish Your ways to rehabilitate those who commit crimes against society.
“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.” Matthew 18:19
