The following is a excerpt from R.A. Martinez of MAPS Global Mission Base, in Richmond, VA.
MAPS Global Mission Base is a ministry that trains and sends missionaries to the MIddle East, hosts regular prayer for the city of Richmond as well as provides worship and prayer 12 hours a day at their facility. They are looking to move to a permanent facility in the near future. This move and the needs of Richmond are the reasons for the call to prayer and fasting this month. Below is R.A. Martinez's prayer focus for Richmond, VA:
You have heard me teach on the anointing for the Church to contend for a “renaming” of cities across the earth before the return of Jesus (Is 62). This is resonating with leaders throughout the city. Richmond has a unique destiny on it. God is inviting the church in Richmond into a conversation, right now, with Him about the new name and destiny of this city. We are standing in a prophetic balance between what this city will be known for in the next ten, twenty and thirty years. It is truly a generational moment. Instead of pain, it can be promise. Instead of slavery, it can be sending to the nations. Instead of division, it can be unity. Instead of racism, it can be reconciliation. Instead of abandonment, it can be the spirit of adoption. Richmond can be known as a place where people go to have their destinies repaired and restored.
We believe this city is meant to be a stronghold for the gospel. As we respond to Jesus and His leadership in this moment, we believe that there will be in the days to come a season of great openness to the gospel, unending worship, and unprecedented unity.
These two moments are converging this January: our personal prophetic storyline with MAPS and a prophetic window for a generational shift in the city we have been sent to. I believe what we do in the coming days will impact much of what happens in the decades to come.
In light of all of this, I wanted to communicate to you, our staff and church family that we are prayerfully planning this January, to host 21 days of fasting and prayer in the spirit of Daniel 9 and Isaiah 62. Within our spiritual family, our desire is to stand before the Lord in unceasing prayer and worship, dedicating ourselves afresh to be a people who host His Presence. Externally, we are calling believers from around the city to gather and lift our voices in unbroken worship, prayer and fasting for the Lord to forgive our sins, have mercy on our city, and exalt the name of Jesus like a banner over Richmond. We are inviting believers, ministry leaders, churches and anyone who “calls on the name of the Lord Jesus” to join with us in the RIHOP Prayer Room as we stand as a city together before the throne of God night and day.
